Ocarina of Time Remake Gameplay Changes

The September 2026 reveal gives us the first reliable look at how the remake plays. This page separates Nintendo-confirmed features from details shown in the gameplay overview, so a clip is not mistaken for a complete specification.

What the first gameplay overview showed

The September 8 gameplay overview from IGN shows several practical changes in motion:

  • a camera that can be rotated around Link in exploration;
  • a button jump in places where the original used automatic ledge movement;
  • day and night continuing in town areas rather than only changing in open field transitions;
  • humming a melody as an input for the ocarina; and
  • Threads of Time, an on-screen progress or next-objective aid shown during the walkthrough.

Watch IGN's gameplay overview and treat it as a demonstration of that build, not a promise that every menu or system has been revealed.

What has not been announced

There is no official confirmation yet for a fixed 4K or 60 FPS target, ray tracing, a parry system, an item quick-wheel, seamless loading, Switch 1 support, or Master Quest. The original-vs-remake comparison keeps those items in a clear “not announced” column instead of presenting guesses as facts.

For new players, the practical impact is simple: the remake may be easier to read and navigate, but the best route through dungeons and collectibles still benefits from the 100% walkthrough and first-time player tips.
