Ocarina of Time Remake Hyrule Map: What We Can Actually Read

Nintendo's Japanese Switch 2 site now has a dedicated Hyrule page with official map artwork for the 2026 Ocarina of Time remake. It is the new source behind the recent “first Hyrule map” discussion, but a map illustration should not be treated as a frame-by-frame layout of the playable game.

The official source​

The Nintendo Japan Hyrule page presents the map alongside regional locations and character-world information. Nintendo's Switch 2 product page confirms the same game and the November 5, 2026 launch date.

This page is our original reading of the public map artwork and the resulting community questions. It does not reproduce the image or claim that every illustrated landmark is a new playable area.

What the map makes easier to see​

The illustration gives a broader view of how the remake frames Hyrule:

  • The eastern side receives more visual attention. Fans comparing it with the N64 map have noticed denser routes and more prominent regional shapes east of Hyrule Field.
  • The Castle Town and Hyrule Castle approach looks more built out. Buildings and connecting spaces are drawn with more detail than the original's distant background treatment.
  • The world is presented as a lived-in region, not only a dungeon route. The official page places forests, mountains, water, desert, and settlements in one navigational context, which matches the remake's more detailed visual direction.

These are observations about the published illustration. They are not confirmation of a larger open world, extra dungeons, new quests, or a different story route.

Map art is not a 1:1 gameplay guarantee​

The official page does not publish a scale bar, coordinate system, or complete dungeon map. A drawn map can simplify distances, exaggerate landmarks, or show a designer's overview. In particular, the image does not prove:

  • that every new-looking structure is enterable;
  • that Hyrule Field is larger in playable square footage;
  • that the remake has seamless traversal between every region; or
  • that a previously unseen icon is a new dungeon or side quest.
